Release of Book ‘Splendour in the Grass’
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances has the mandate of promoting good governance practices in the country. The objective of promotion of good governance practices can not be achieved unless and until, the practices are properly documented and disseminated. In pursuance of this and in order to promote good governance practices, the Department brings out publications from time to time on the initiatives taken by the officers/organizations of different parts of the country
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances has come out with yet another compilation of innovative experiments. After “Ideas that have worked” and “Learn from them”, it brings out “Splendour in the Grass”. Like its predecessors, this book too showcases good governance practices across the country and the world.
The third in the series, `SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS’ is a compilation of 16 national and international outstanding administrative experiences which have been tried out successfully by the innovators. The articles included throw light on the breakthrough ideas and approaches in public administration, the role of leadership in managing change and the participation of institutional bodies. Ranging from studies in e-governance like MCA-21 at the Central and State levels and community policing in Trichy based on voluntary citizen participation to reducing maternal mortality and female infanticide in Tamil Nadu, the book describes the background against which the reforms were implemented, the challenges, the approach, the lessons learnt and future perspectives.
