Construction of Water Tanks
With the implementation of PMKSY in Siaha District, providing irrigational facilities to the
communities is the utmost priority. As such, a number of water tanks have been constructed at
Lungpuk, Khaikhy and Leisai as resolved in Gram Sabha and recommended by Watershed
Committee.
The main purpose of construction of water tank is mainly for storage of water for drinking, watering
to kitchen Gardens of the nearby Watershed Village dwellers as well as for dairy animals. This has
further resulted in healthy living, vegetable crops production of the respective Watershed villages as
well as increasing meat and milk production.
Before the onset of construction of these water tanks, such villagers didn’t have sufficient water for
drinking, watering Vegetable Crops Cultivated in Kitchen Gardens and for animal rearing. Farmers
of the watershed villages faced acute scarcity of water for the above purposes.
