b. Indirect Effect: Airline operations stimulate activity across the entire supply chain in a
region including aviation fuel suppliers, inter-modal transport services such as taxis and
buses from airports, among others.
c. Induced Effect: The direct and indirect impact of spending by people employed by
airlines and airports.
d. Catalytic Effect: The contribution of air connectivity to economics of other industries
is characterized as catalytic or spin-off effect. Air connectivity also helps provide a
boost to tourism and related industries.
8. Under Lifeline UDAN, efforts commenced in March, 2020 helped operate 588 flights
transporting almost 1000 tonnes of voluminous cargo.
9. UDAN is a resilient scheme. Generally airlines are operating less than 50% of their allowed
schedules after recommencement (due to COVID19), about 70% of the allowed routes under
UDAN are being operated.
UDAN is strengthening the overall aviation network by constantly endeavouring to achieve its
objectives; contributing as a meaningful tool to new India's vision for transformation.
