Issue: Safety of money deposit in Post office and Monthly Instalment Scheme during Lockdown.

Grievance
Shri Rakesh Chhabria, a resident of Ambernath, Thane had a postal saving account in Ulhasnagar
Branch, wherein he had deposited Rs. 2,00,000 (Two Lakhs) on 19th March, 2020 i.e., just few days
before the complete lockdown (curfew) was imposed. He had also submitted a form for Monthly Income
Scheme (MIS) before returning home. Tense like everyone else, he wanted to find out whether he was
enrolled in MIS or not. As the distance between Ambernath and Ulhasnagar is around 8 Kilometers.
Physically, it was not possible for him to visit the post office and his phone calls were not answered. So,
he lodged a grievance addressed to the PMO on the Public Grievance Portal seeking confirmation that
his money was safe and he had been enrolled in the Monthly Income Scheme.

Action
He was intimated that MIS account has been opened. The MIS Account Number in Ulhasnagar-2 PO
was also intimated to him. He was assured that his deposits with the Department of Posts were safe and
that the passbook could be collected from the post office at his convenience within counter hours.
