Issue: Non-availability of essential drugs/medicines during National Lockdown.

Grievance
Shri Ashish Arun of Varanasi is a patient of Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 4D, who got his kidney
transplant surgery in the year 2014 at Batra Hospital, New Delhi. Unfortunately, he was also diagnosed
with Blood cancer in February, 2020. He was running out of his life saving drugs as the same were not
available at any nearby medical store including Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra, due to Covid-19
pandemic related national lockdown. He shared the medicine’s salt names i.e., Tacrolimus 1 MG;
Mycophenolate Mofetil 500 Mg; Imatinib Mesylate 400 Mg and Clonidine 0.1 Mg with the request to
provide him these medicines.
Action
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority NPPA immediately took up the matter, and contacted
the concern State Drug Controller (SDC), UP. In coordination with SDC, UP and the Drug Inspector
concerned, the medicines were made available to the patient.

Citizen’s Response/ Satisfaction
“A heart full of thanks to all the concerned officers of central and state government who provided me
my life saving drugs at my door step helping me to save my life as well as helping me to follow the
orders related to national lock down to contain the pandemic Covid 19 with such quick and prompt
action. I am fully confident that phir jeet jaayega India, phirmuskurayega India. Jai Hind!”, wrote the
aggrieved person after getting the medicines.
